2025 Ponzi Pinot Noir Rosé

2025 Ponzi Pinot Noir Rosé

Juicy, radiant, vitality

A Rosé of Pinot Noir Made by Someone Who Doesn't Like Rosé of Pinot Noir.

Inspired by Provence, this is a wine built on restraint and precision — botanical, briny, and structured where others are soft. A finish that lingers on salinity, not sweetness. Not a wine that tries to charm you. One that earns your attention.

Winemaker Notes

Opens with rosehip and fennel seed — botanical, almost apothecary. Then a cool wave of cranberry water and grapefruit arrives to steady it. Strawberry and apricot hum quietly underneath, soft and undemanding. On the palate, it tightens into something more precise: Rainier cherry, Italian plum, a whisper of coriander that comes and goes before you can name it. Then crushed oyster shell and pink Himalayan salt — mineral and briny and utterly unexpected. The structure is its own statement. Bright acidity lifts everything without weight, and the finish lingers on salinity rather than sweetness.

Pairings

Niçoise salad / Grilled prawns with aioli and lemon / Labneh with cucumber, dill, and olive oil / Vietnamese gỏi cuốn with nuoc cham / Crudo with yuzu and sea salt / Charcuterie with melon and fresh herbs

In the vineyard

The 2025 vintage is one to be adored. The growing season was warm and dry — wet weather through March gave way to a warm, dry April through June, and the rest of summer followed suit. A heat spell around Labor Day Weekend pushed ripeness ahead of schedule. Yield was down across the valley, but what came off the vines was clean, ripe, and balanced — the result of exceptional vineyard stewardship and a season that gave the fruit nowhere to hide. Harvested September 17, 2025.

IN THE CELLAR

Three days of skin contact in a refrigerated truck at 45°F — intracellular enzymatic maceration, slow and deliberate. Pressed, then fermented on lees in temperature-controlled stainless steel, never exceeding 60°F. Racked off lees after primary fermentation. No oak, no intervention. Just the fruit, the cold, and the time it needed.
